Cross Ice - Hockey

Flint Iceland is proud to announce our New Learn to Skate program.  All Star Learn To Skate is designed for the beginner skater of all ages and is progressively structured for the skater in Basic through Freestyle.  Whether you are looking to skate recreationally or competitive, for hockey or figure skating or just for the fun of it.  We run our Learn To Skate Program all year round, so when your ready to skate we're ready to show you how.

Snowplow Sam 1, 2
(Helmets mandatory, gloves are recommended)   Generally for beginners under 6 years old.
White Star Forward skating, Snow Plow Stop, two foot Glide, Moving Dip/ Squat, Forward swizzles,
Basic Backward skating/hustle-alternating backward steps & pushes.

Red Star
Forward skating using full strides/ stroking using correct edge technique, Backward swizzles, Backward skating, Backward 2 foot glide, 1 foot glides, straight line with control, Forward slalom, 2 Foot turns, gliding both directions, Forward pumping in a circle/ "c" cuts, Developing an understanding of edge control.
Blue Star
Backward skating with speed using correct edge technique, Backward snowplow and "V" stops, Forward crossovers & cross holds (clockwise and counter clockwise), 1 foot turns R and L Hockey stop/parallel stop, Forward outside edge on a circle.
Bronze / Silver / Gold Star
These levels are specific for the advancement of figure skating elements

All Star Learn To Skate Registration.

ALL STAR Learn To Skate  - Hockey

"ALL STAR" Program for the hockey player.  Helmet and gloves are mandatory.
Hockey players start out in the ALL STAR Learn To Skate Program in the appropriate Star level.  All elements are taught without a stick or puck as proper skating technique is emphasized. 
The goal of this program is to develop the skaters skill so that they can move on to the
Cross-Ice  and other hockey programs after they have passed at least the Red Star level.
White Star through Blue Star includes the same curriculum as Hockey 1-4.
